Section 8
Imagine what happens
when house music meets
the ghetto…. the thick
vibe of
four-on-the-floor beats
in their dirtiest form.
Underground sounds that
are infamous for making
people dance. Music that
inspires you to don your
beer goggles and forget
what your friend’s say.
Matt Sanborn and Ken
Lazee are vagrants from
our Nation’s Capital who
despite being deaf and
technically mentally
disabled, have made a
name for themselves as
dj’s who rock dance
floors while spinning
for: food, beer, or
clean underwear. Many
consider this an amazing
accomplishment as not
only do they share a
collection of a mere
five LP’s, neither of
them has more than one
change of clothes. As an
additional hardship, DC
shelters do not allow
for music devices beyond
personal walkmans so
they have no practice
location. The only thing
these two lowlifes bring
to the table is an
inherent sense of groove
and a bad case of the
clap. The two of them
have bonded by years of
spooning behind
dumpsters, huddling
close together to keep
warm at night, creating
a tag-team duo that
essentially thinks as
one- combining two
sub-standard IQ’s into
one that can read at a
5th grade level. You
must witness these guy’s
in action, it truly
defines what a little
ghetto can do to some
dance music.
Long time solo careers
fused together in
harmony has produced one
of the hottest dj duos
on the East Coast. Since
getting married, Matt
and Ken have
accomplished much in the
Washington/Baltimore
area, playing dates
regularly since 2003.
Club appearances have
included: Cubik (voted
best new party-URB
magazine), Sonar, The
Edge, Anzu, DC Tunnel,
Blue Room, Pulse @
Andalu, Gua Rapo, Club
FIVE, and every place in
between. Mixes and live
shows from Section 8
have been broadcasted
all over the globe,
being enjoyed by house
enthusiasts on an
international level. The
two are part of the DC
based Broken Soul crew,
a well-known local group
of thump-crazy dj’s. (www.brokensouldc.com).
Section 8 has one simple
mission, to show the
world that “House is
about Love”. |
